Windows 10: How to Fix Skypebridge.exe Errors – Technipages

The Skypebridge.exe error may sometimes pop up on the screen when you restart your computer. It usually means you need to install the latest Skype and Windows 10 updates. But this error can also indicate that a third-party program or app is blocking Skype.

SkypeBridge.exe is a module that is only used by Skype for Windows 10 App. Its main role is to create and manage the System Tray icon. This is because Microsoft Store apps don’t have native support for System Tray icons.

Troubleshooting Skypebridge.exe Errors on Windows 10

Update Skype and Windows 10

Updating your Skype app should help you to bypass this error. Usually, if there’s a new Skype version available, you’ll get an update notification when you launch the app. Click on the notification to update Skype.

Uninstall and Reinstall Skype

If you rarely use the app, you can simply uninstall it from your device.

But if you use Skype on a regular basis, you can uninstall the current app and reinstall a fresh copy of it. Download Skype directly from Microsoft’s website, not from the Store.

  1. Launch the Task Manager and kill all the Skype.exe processes.end task skype task manager
  2. Go to SettingsApps and Features.
  3. Scroll down and select Skype.
  4. Hit the Uninstall button.remove skype app
  5. Then type  %appdata%skype in the Windows search bar and press Enter.
  6. Rename the Skype folder to Skype_OldFolder. Restart your computer.
  7. Download and install Skype from Microsoft.

Uninstall Third-Party Programs

As stated at the beginning of this guide, third-party programs may also trigger Skypebridge.exe errors. The quickest solution is to uninstall the problematic programs. Check if there are any unwanted or riskware programs on your machine. Or maybe programs you don’t remember installing.

If the Skypebridge.exe error occurred shortly after you installed a new tool or app on your machine, uninstall that program.

Severely outdated software will likely cause conflict with the Windows 10 Desktop bridge service. And this could trigger Skypebridge.exe errors.

  1. Open the Control Panel, and go to Programs and Features.control panel uninstall a program
  2. Select and uninstall all the suspicious programs you see on the list. Remove the programs you haven’t used in ages.
  3. Restart your computer.

Hopefully, the Skypebridge.exe error is history now.
