Once the Whatsapp disappearing messages feature has rolled out fully, it will be available as a new option in the contact section of each friend. You can enable disappearing messages on a per-group or contact basis.
The Whatsapp disappearing messages is among one of the most awaited features, and it will be officially available a few weeks from today. With Whatsapp lacking this feature, it has led few people looking for modded Whatsapp apps like GBWhatsapp, and others.
So that question now has an answer, does WhatsApp have disappearing messages? It is now clear, and understandable that Whatsapp disappearing messages feature will be available on all supported devices including Android, iOS, and Linux-based KaiOS devices, along with WhatsApp Web and Desktop platforms, by the end of this month.
What does Whatsapp disappearing messages mean?
We must have watched some of those Mission Impossible action movies, where the actors listen to a tape or messages, and after completion, it says “This message will self-destruct in 5seconds” and it gets destroyed like an explosive.
Although it is slightly different when it comes to the case of disappearing messages, it does get destroyed, but not like an explosive. Instead, it gets deleted after a certain period of time.
With disappearing messages or texts you send will expire after a pre-specified period of time. The recipient will be alerted to this timer, which will not begin until they have viewed the message. Once expired, the message is deleted from all devices.
Once the message gets deleted, you can’t view the message anymore, but you can take quick screenshots Samsung tablets, or you can take screenshots using your device.
How does it disappearing messages on Whatsapp work?
In the month of November, WhatsApp introduced a new disappearing messages option that will allow WhatsApp users to enable disappearing messages on chat conversations between friends, to automatically delete messages after seven days.
Fortunately, anyone can enable the option in individual chats, while in group chats, it is only the group admins can enable the disappearing messages. This means users would be able to send temporary messages that would essentially self-destruct.
The Whatsapp disappearing messages will not just wipe out your chats, also included are the photos and videos after seven days. To keep a copy, you can either save it by screenshots, forwarding, or copy it to a safe before they’re automatically deleted.
Although, Whatsapp mentioned that messages will delete after 7days when sent to chats with enabled disappearing messages, but media and the message won’t disappear from outside the chat or from any devices they are saved on.
A WhatsApp spokesperson said “We’re starting with 7 days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about,” “The shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there while you need it, and then disappear after you don’t.”
