Being aware of what is happening in your surrounding is essential to your safety. But the fact is, many people believe a story they hear or reading without verifying if the information presented in the story is truthful or not. And so the concept of ‘misinformation’ is no longer a strange one.
Because false stories is very rampant, in 2005 a network known as the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) was established. So if you feel that the information in a story you receive sounds suspicious or inaccurate you are encouraged to use the organization approved by IFCN in your country to verify the truthfulness of the story.
Because billions of people are using WhatsApp to share information, many of these IFCN organizations can also be accessed via WhatsApp for ease in information double-checking.
