Troubleshooting iPhone Yellow Tint – Technipages

Your iPhone’s screen may sometimes appear a bit yellow-ish. In rare cases, the screen can turn downright yellow.

Unfortunately, even the latest iPhone models (iPhone 12 at the time of writing) are affected by the same problem.

The good news is that you’ve got nothing to worry about. Your iPhone is not broken. You just need to adjust your color settings.

Why Does my iPhone Have a Yellow Tint?

Night Shift Mode

There could be multiple explanations as to why your iPhone screen is a bit yellow-ish. For example, if you enable Night Shift, your device will filter out daytime colors.

You’ve got two choices if you want to get rid of this issue: you can adjust the color temperature or disable Night Shift.

Navigate to SettingsDisplay & BrightnessNight Shift and change the settings.

Adjust the Color Tint

Tweaking your color tint settings may help you to lower the intensity of that yellow tint. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap Settings and navigate to GeneralAccessibility.
  2. Then select Display Accommodations.iphone display accomodations
  3. Tap Color Filters and turn on the feature.iphone color filters
  4. Next, select Color Tint.
  5. Go ahead and slide the Hue bar until you’re happy with the color hue. This action should reduce the yellow tint.
  6. You can also reduce the Intensity filter.

Quick Tip: Try sliding the Intensity filter all the way to the left. And then set the Hue bar to 70 maybe 75 percent. Check if you’re happy with the results.

Turn Off True Tone

While you may absolutely love True Tone on your Mac (I know I do), you may want to turn it off on your iPhone.

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select Display & Brightness.
  3. And then disable True Tone.

The thing with True Tone is that it automatically adjusts your screen hue depending on the moment of the day. The idea is to match the type of light and intensity it detects.

I’m an iPhone fan myself and I noticed we’re having this conversation about the yellow tint with almost every phone release. Disabling Night Shift and adjusting Color Tint settings worked for me. I hope this method works for you as well.
