With the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launches this month, now is also a great time to examine how you’re going to store all of your older games. Thankfully, with Black Friday now in full swing, now is a great time to shop. Western Digital’s 5TB WD Black Game Drive is down to just $95, giving you plenty of space to work with offloading older titles to make way for enhanced games on your internal storage.
If you’re sticking with your Xbox One X or One S for the time being, then the WD Black Game Drive can be used for all of your games with no issue. On Microsoft’s new consoles, you’ll have to reserve any external drive space for games that aren’t Xbox Series X and Series S optimized. The optimizations, like ray tracing and higher framerates, require the faster internal storage in the new consoles (or a special expansion card) to run up to snuff.
Still, for those of us with huge digital libraries to chew through, it’s worth saving every last bit of that internal storage you can by grabbing an external drive or two. This WD Black Game Drive gives you 5TB to work with, which Western Digital estimates will hold up to 125 games. You mileage may vary depending on the game sizes in your library, but you’re easily looking at room for more than 100 games here.
For $95, this is definitely a deal worth snapping u because we likely won’t see this drive drop that far below its usual $150 price outside of Black Friday and Prime Day sales. If you’re looking for something a little cheaper, or just don’t need quite that much storage, the 2TB model is also discounted to just $65 from its usual $90 price.
There are plenty more Black Friday deals to be had if you’re shopping for your Xbox, and we’ve rounded up some of the best Black Friday Xbox accessory deals.
