Slack: How To Configure Your Mobile Notification Preferences from the Desktop – Technipages

If you want to change your mobile notification settings for Slack, you may think that you have to do so directly from your phone. This isn’t the case, as Slack allows you to configure your mobile notification preferences from the desktop application.

This can be helpful if you’ve handed your phone off to someone for some reason but realize that you’re getting sensitive Slack notifications. Normally you’d just have to either let it continue to happen or ask for the phone back quickly to disable notifications.

If you can change your mobile notification preferences from the desktop app, you can avoid this and just quickly change the settings so that your phone doesn’t get any more Slack notifications.

Adjust Your Mobile Notifications for Slack from Your Desktop

If you want to configure your mobile notification settings from the desktop app, go into your account settings. Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner. Then click “View profile” in the drop-down menu.

First, you need to click on your profile picture, then click on “View profile.

In your profile view, click on the triple-dot icon labeled “More,” then click on “Account settings” in the drop-down menu.

In your profile, click on the triple-dot icon labeled “More,” then click on “Account settings.”

Once in your account settings, switch to the “Notifications” tab at the top of the page. You can configure your mobile notifications in the “Mobile push notifications” section. Slack defaults to send you notifications about “All new messages.” But, you can change this to either “Direct messages, mentions, or keywords.” Or to “Nothing” with the “Notify me about” dropdown box. You can also configure the notification sound and play a preview of the sound on your computer.

The changes take effect as soon as you make them, as there is no save button to apply the changes.

Configure what messages you want to receive notifications for and what sound you want to play when your phone gets a notification.

If you’ve lent your phone to someone to show them something quickly and start getting notifications, you may have to enable do not disturb. Follow this guide’s steps and, you can turn off or change your mobile notifications settings for Slack from the desktop app.
