Sea of Thieves has already been optimized for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, running at 4K 60 FPS and 1080p 60 FPS respectively, with vastly reduced load times. If you have an Xbox Series X however, there’s now another way to play Rare’s pirate adventure.
As part of a larger update bringing Seasons and more, Sea of Thieves gets a 1080p 120 FPS mode on Xbox Series X. You’ll be able to select this mode when playing on your Xbox Series X as long as it is connected to a compatible TV.
For more information on Seasons and the Plunder Pass in Sea of Thieves, our video producer Miles Dompier sat down with Rare Executive Producer Joe Neate and Creative Director Mike Chapman to talk about how Sea of Thieves is evolving moving forward.
If you have a TV or monitor that supports 120 FPS gaming and you’re curious about what other games can take advantage of this new feature, there’s a full list of Xbox Series X, Series S games with 120 FPS support. Sea of Thieves crossed over 15 million players back in 2020, with over a million copies sold on Steam. Like all Xbox Game Studios titles, it’s also available on Xbox Game Pass.
