Samsung Galaxy Tab S7: How to Soft/Hard Reset – Technipages

There are soft and hard reset methods available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 in the event that you are experiencing problems with the device.

Soft Reset

A soft reset is used when the device is frozen or not responding. A soft reset will not erase data from the device.

  • Press and hold the “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds until the screen goes black.

Hard Reset From Startup

  1. With the device off, press and hold the “Volume Up“, and “Power” buttons simultaneously.
  2. Release the buttons when you see the recovery screen.
  3. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and select “wipe data / factory reset“. Press “Power” to choose the highlighted selection.
  4. Select “factory data reset“.
  5. Once the reset is complete, choose “Reboot system now“.

Hard Reset From Software Menus

  1. With the device started, open “Settings“.
  2. Select “General management“.
  3. Select “Reset
  4. Tap “Factory data reset“.
  5. Tap “Reset “.
  6. Tap “Delete all“.

The Galaxy Tab S7  should then go through the hard reset process.

What is Factory Data Protection?

Once you add a Google account to your device, the Factory Data Protection (FRP) feature is activated. This prevents unauthorized users from factory resetting the device and using it for themselves. If you are selling your Galaxy Tab S7 or sending it for repair, you will need to disable FRP. To do so, simply remove your Google account under “Settings” > “Accounts and backup” > “Accounts” > Google account > “Remove account“.
