Samsung Exynos 1080 5nm EUV is the latest processor chipset from the South Korean tech giant, offering modernized features and specifications and will officially debut in a Vivo smartphone.
The Exynos 1080 is a new premium mid-range smartphone processor built using Samsung’s power-efficient, the 5nm EUV process with an in-built 5G modem and comes with support for up to 144Hz displays.
It is the official successor of Exynos 980 that was introduced last year, and Samsung claims that the new Exynos 1080 5nm EUV SoC single-core performance would see a 50% and 2x multi-core performance jump over previous-generation processors.
The Samsung Exynos 1080 5nm EUV process uses four ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores, and one of those cores is clocked at 2.8GHz. The remaining three Cortex-A78 cores are clocked at 2.6GHz. There are four Cortex-A55 CPU cores which run at 2GHz and handle light tasks.
The powerful neural processing unit (NPU) and digital signal processor (DSP) are capable of running up to 5.7 trillion operations per second. It features a Mali-G78 MP10 GPU, which might be similar to the powerful Exynos 990 inside Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
It comes with support for Full HD+ displays with a 144Hz refresh rate or QHD+ displays with a 90Hz refresh rate. The ISP supports rear single-camera up to 200MP, and Dual-camera 32MP + 32MP with up to 4K 60fps and HDR10+ video recording.
The company is also using a power-saving solution called Amigo, which monitors the performance loads and increases power efficiency by up to 10%. Fortunately, the new chipset supports LPDDR5 RAM with data rates of up to 5,500 megabits per second (MB/s) and UFS 3.1 storage.
Already aforementioned, the new processor arrives with an integrated 5G modem compatible with both types of 5G networks, mmWave and sub-6GHz, enabling downlink speeds of up to 5.1Gbps, supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.
Built on Samsung’s 5-nanometer (nm) EUV process technology, the new Exynos 1080 will definitely compete with top-end mid-range Smartphones and Samsung has announced that it will first be used in a flagship Vivo smartphone starting from next year.
