    Opera crashes on startup

In case you’re not familiar, Opera holds all its information in a specific directory on your PC. To fix the problem, you need to find that directory and rename it.

After doing that, you just need to start Opera again, and this folder will be recreated.

If you want to restore your saved data, such as history and bookmarks, you need to copy all directories and files from the old Opera Stable directory.

Keep in mind that some of your data might be corrupted, and that can cause issues with your new Opera profile.

To fix that, be sure to copy directory by directory and files in groups in order to find which file causes the problem.

If an update is available, the browser will then automatically install it. Then you’ll be able to press a Relaunch Now button on the page to restart Opera.

  3. Now start Opera again.

According to users, you might be able to fix this issue simply by adding a single parameter to your Opera shortcut.

Sometimes your extensions can cause this and other errors to occur, and in some cases, they can even prevent Opera from starting.

If Opera keeps crashing on Windows 10, you might be able to fix the problem simply by entering the Private browsing mode.

To enter this mode, you need to start Opera regularly and then switch to it, but there’s also a way to force Opera into the Private mode.

Opera will now start in Private browsing mode. If everything works as it should, it means that one of your extensions is most likely causing issues with Opera.

Simply find the problematic extension and remove it, and the Opera will start working again.

This is a simple workaround, but it might come in handy if Opera is crashing constantly.

8. Remove problematic updates

  1. Press Windows Key + I to open the Settings app.
  2. When the Settings app opens, navigate to the Update & Security section.

Several users reported that Opera started crashing on their PC after installing a certain Windows update.

Although it’s important to keep your system up to date with the latest updates, sometimes certain issues can occur.

If this issue started occurring recently, it’s rather likely that the Windows update caused it. To fix the issue, you need to find and remove any recent updates.

Once you remove the recent updates, check if the problem still persists. If not, you might want to block those updates from installing.

By default, Windows 10 will automatically install the missing updates causing the issue to reappear.

However, you can easily block automatic updates in Windows 10 with the help of this quick guide and prevent the issue from reoccurring.

If you’re having trouble opening the Setting app, take a look at this article to solve the issue.
