One of the biggest advantages of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is its cross-play feature, which lets you play with your friends no matter which platform you play on, be it Xbox, PS4, Windows, or even a mobile device. When Minecraft Dungeons was revealed to follow in the same vein as its mainstream sibling by being cross-platform, the lack of cross-play at launch was a noticeable weakness in the game. We learned back at Minecraft Live that cross-play was finally going to happen at some point in November, and now we have an exact release date: November 17, 2020.
If you’ve been waiting to play Minecraft Dungeons with your friends, but you’re on different platforms, that won’t be an obstacle for much longer. Once the cross-play update drops on November 17, Minecraft Dungeons players on Windows, Xbox, PS4, and Switch will all be able to play together (and mobile too, if you count Xbox Cloud Gaming (Project xCloud)). The update will be free to all players, and may contain some other bug fixes and general improvements as well as adding cross-play support. The game will likely follow Minecraft by utilizing your Microsoft Account for cross-play, but details aren’t known yet.
If you’re looking for new content to play in Minecraft Dungeons, we already know what the next expansion for the game is going to be. The Howling Peaks DLC isn’t here yet, and we don’t have an exact release date, but you should expect it some time in December, around a month after cross-play drops. Howling Peaks looks to be a great addition to Minecraft Dungeons, following up on the awesome Halloween-themed endgame update that added a ton of new difficulty levels and challenge to the game for free.
Minecraft Dungeons is our top pick for best game to play on Android with Xbox Cloud Gaming due to its awesome touch controls, so be sure to check that out if you’re interested in playing full-fledged console-quality games on your mobile device.

Minecraft Dungeons is the next saga in Minecraft’s story, and Mojang Studios have knocked another one out of the park. Awesome co-op combat paired with powerful loot, all at a crazy affordable price? There’s not much more you could ask for in an epic dungeon crawling ARPG.
