Not necessarily deal-breakers, but things like Microsoft Edge server asking for username and password every time you run it can be a drag, to say the least. Don’t worry, we have a fix for you.
How can I stop Edge server from asking for credentials?
1. Use Opera
If Microsoft Edge is prompting for credentials, then maybe you should try using a different web browser while you spend time trying to fix Edge.
One good alternative is Opera, a lightweight Internet browsing tool that is built using the Chromium engine, just like Edge.
However, what makes Opera shine in this particular situation is the built-in password manager that can be easily accessed and managed, so you don’t have to worry about having to remember your credentials again.
However, you don’t have to worry about storing passwords on Opera, since it comes with plenty of other security tools that can protect your system before malware even has a chance to set foot inside.
As such, besides the password manager, we can also mention the VPN that can prevent tracking and the ad-blocker that can prevent adware.
Never worry about remembering the password to every account you have thanks to Opera integrated technology.
2. Scan for malware and remove PUPs
This is quite a rare occurrence on any personal computer. On the other hand, it can happen from time to time on a shared PC.
Of course, it’s of utmost importance to know whether this is a legit Windows prompt or some adware is trying to hijack your PC.
That shouldn’t be that hard, as the prompt Windows shouldn’t be distinguishable from the Edge interface.
If you’re still not sure, and we prefer the better safe than sorry approach, make sure to uninstall all suspicious third-party applications and scan for malware using dedicated tools like Malwarebytes.
