Meizu launches its latest premium Smartphones, the Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro with a Quad HD+ E4 AMOLED 120Hz refresh display screen and is powered by Qualcomm’s top-end chipset, the Snapdragon 888 with 5G SA/NSA support.
The Meizu 18 series was officially unveiled at an event in China, and starting from today, these handsets will go on sale in the country. Pricing starts from 4,399 yuan for the Meizu 18 and 4,999 yuan for the Meizu 18 Pro.
Both Smartphone packs a 3,200 × 1,440 pixels Quad HD+ E4 with 20:9 aspect ratio AMOLED and support HDR10+. The display refreshes at a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, offering 1300nit and up to 420nit brightness.
However, the screen sizes are different, the Meizu 18 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch and the vanilla version with a smaller 6.2-inch size. It packs a 5000000:1 (Min) contrast ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
Samsung provided the AMOLED curved screens, which allows the Meizu 18 series’s front glass to be curved on all four sides – 50-degrees on the left and right and 5-degrees on the top and bottom. Both phones come with Qualcomm’s latest 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner underneath the display.
The Meizu 18 is thick at 8.18mm, weighs 162g, and comes in White, Blue, and Pink with Violet color options. While the Meizu 18 Pro measures 8.1mm, weighs 189g, and is available in Gray, White, and Blue color options.
The Meizu 18 Pro packs a quad-rea-camera setup, where the main 50-megapixels Samsung GN1 sensor with f/1.9 lens, 1.4μm pixel size, 7P lens, and supports ring LED flash. There is a Samsung 33D 0.3MP ToF sensor with ƒ/1.4 lens.
In addition, there is the secondary Sony IMX616 32-megapixels ultra-wide camera with a 130-degree field of view and focusing from 2cm for macros. Last is the f/2.4 8-megapixels telephoto 3x zoom camera with OmniVision OV08A10 sensor.
While the Meizu 18 lacks a 3D ToF sensor but offers a triple-rear camera, a primary 64-megapixels f/1.6 Sony IMX682 camera, 0.8μm pixel size, 7P lens, Ultra SMA OIS, f/2.2 16-megapixels ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixels 3x telephoto camera.
On the front, the Meizu 18 packs a 20-megapixels front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, and the Meizu 18 Pro comes with a Samsung GH1 44-megapixels sensor front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture.
Both phones are powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 660 GPU, coupled with 8GB RAM with 128GB / 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. It uses LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage
These handsets run on Flyme 9 based on Android 11, comes with Dual SIM (nano + nano), USB Type-C audio, Dual speakers, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and support NFC.
The Meizu 18 Pro packs a 4500mAh battery with support for 40W wired charging and 10W reverse-wireless charging. While the Meizu 18 with a slightly smaller 4000mAh battery with 36W charging, and it lacks wireless charging.
Both smartphones will draw power from USB Type-C, and the company will ship both the Meizu 18 and 18 Pro in a retail box with a single USB cable, however, Meizu promises a new charger in exchange for two old ones during its upcoming campaign.
The Meizu 18 8GB + 128GB costs 4,399 yuan ($680), 8GB + 256GB costs 4,699 yuan ($727) and the 12GB + 256GB goes for 4,999 yuan ($773). While the Meizu 18 Pro base model, 8GB + 128GB is priced at 4,999 yuan ($773).
Meizu 18 Pro 8GB + 256GB set you back to 5,499 yuan ($850) and the top-end premium 12GB + 256GB version goes for 5,999 yuan ($928). For availability, you can easily order these phones in China from today, but they will officially go on sale from the 8th of March 8th in the country.
