Xbox Series X and S games with 120 FPS Why should I want 120 FPS?

Running games at a higher framerate allows for more animation detail, reduces input lag, and generally allows for a better gaming experience. You can see these benefits in action thanks to the video below, which slows down Ori and the Will of the Wisps with a side-by-side comparison of the game running at 60 FPS and 120 FPS.

Some PS5 games support 120 FPS as well, though this list of titles is somewhat smaller.

Xbox Series X and S games with 120 FPS Will more games be added?

Developers have the option of targeting different refresh rates and resolutions, so this list is sure to grow. Microsoft has previously discussed how some backward compatible titles can have their framerates doubled on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, meaning that in theory some 60FPS games may run at 120FPS on the new consoles. This is an evolution of the Heutchy method first used on Xbox One X.

As yet, we do not have a list of the games that will benefit from these enhancements. So far, the technology has been shown with Fallout 4 running at 60 FPS without developer input.

Outside of this tech test, we don’t have much information. According to Director of PM for Xbox Jason Ronald, this feature is coming at some point after launch, so we’re expecting more details over the next few months. Some of them may end up being among the best Xbox games available.

Silky smooth experiences

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are available now, and you can buy a console by paying attention to retailers. However, stock is extremely difficult to get ahold of right now and supply will remain constrained for much of 2021, so stay alert if you want to buy a new console.
