How to Search for People Near You On Telegram – Technipages

Do you like making new friends? Who doesn’t, right? In that case, you might like a feature Telegram has to offer. As soon as you open the messaging app’s side-menu, the feature is right there, waiting for you to use it.

What’s great about this feature is that you can talk to nearby people without giving them your phone number. There’s also no need to give them your user name either. Don’t worry about this feature being too hard to use. Keep reading to see how you can start using it as soon as possible.

How to Find Near-by Telegram Users

To start making new friends, open Telegram and tap on the three-lined menu. When the side-menu slides out, tap on the People Nearby option.

Telegram will need access to your location to use this feature. Once you tap on the Allow Access option, the app will ask you to only allow access when using the app or Deny. Just because you allow Telegram access, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to be visible right away.

Once you give Telegram permission and move onto the next step, you’ll see all the Telegram users near you. At the top of the list, you’ll see the option to make yourself visible. Right below the person’s name, you’ll see how far away they are from you.

Swipe all the way down, and you’ll see near-by groups. This means that you’ll see groups that were created near your location. You can see how many members are in each group and how far the group was created from you. When you enter a group, you can see the last thing they mentioned, and you should also see the button you’ll need to tap on to join the group.

If you don’t see any groups you like, you can always create one yourself. Tap on the Create a Local Group option.

Conclusion

Some might think that using Telegram’s near-by people is a security risk. You might ask yourself if you really want complete strangers to know your exact location. But, if you’re OK with that, now you know how you can spot fellow Telegram users. What are your thoughts on the feature? Let me know your opinion in the comments below.
