More and more people are turning to Facebook story feature as a means to keep their friends and fans updated to what’s on their mind at the moment.
And because Facebook has made their Stories feature in such a way that any pictures or videos uploaded to Facebook Stories will automatically disappear after 24 hours, many people love it. This is because someone might just want to post something that their friends and followers will see at that moment, but they will not want that post to be associated with their account in the future.
Nevertheless, why people love using the Facebook story feature is not what is important now. What is important is teaching you how to download or save a video or picture that was uploaded by a friend of yours to their Facebook story, which you find interesting, and will like to keep locally for future reference. So, let’s get to it.
How to Download Pictures from Facebook Stories in PC
Now let’s start with the PC guide for saving or downloading Facebook Stories pictures.
Once you have logged into your Facebook account on a PC browser, view the person’s Facebook story with the picture you want to save.
While the viewing picture, Right-click on the picture, then select Save image as.
In the dialog box that will pop up, give the picture a name, select the location you want the picture to be downloaded to, and click on the Save button.
How to Download Videos from Facebook Story in PC
When it comes to saving Facebook stories videos, you will need the help of a third-party Chrome browser extension called, Story Saver. This is because the method I outlined above for downloading pictures from a Facebook story does not yet work on Facebook Story videos.
Story Saver is developed by Mohammed N. El-Madhoun. This Chrome extension will enable you to not only save videos from Facebook Story, it will also enable you to download videos and pictures from Instagram, and WhatsApp stories as well.
Here is a guide to using the Story Saver Chrome extension to download videos from a Facebook Story.
Step 1: Download and install Google Chrome browser on your computer.
If you already have the Chrome browser installed on your computer, then skip to the next step. Else, here is the Google Chrome browser download link.
Step 2: Open the Chrome browser, then visit this > link < so that you can add the Story Saver extension to the Chrome browser.
Once you are done adding, The Story Saver extension icon will appear at the top-right section of the Chrome browser, after the address bar. If you see it, then proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Visit Facebook on the Chrome browser and log into your account.
Open the Facebook story with the video you want to save, then click on the Story Saver icon which is at the top-right corner.
That is all, the video will be downloaded to your computer.
There are several other extensions that claim to be able to help you download pictures and videos from Facebook Stories. If you wish you can give them a try.
I recommended this (Story Saver Extension) because it has over 30,000 users, and a 4.6 star rating by over 700 users as of when I was writing this post.
Mohammed N. El-Madhoun made a video guide on how to use the Story Saver extension for Chrome browsers. I have embedded it below for you to watch if you so desire.
How to Download Pictures and Videos from Facebook Story on Android phones.
On mobile phones using the Android operating system, it is not possible to download either videos or pictures from a Facebook story without the help of a third-party application.
The third-party applications I will recommend that you use are Friendly Social Browser and Save Story for Facebook Stories – Download.
These two third-party application has over 1 million installed. The first is rated 4.2 star by over 60,000 users while the second is rated 4.1 star by over 23,000 users. So, to me, they are good apps that will keep your Facebook login credentials safe and will also respect your privacy.
This is how to use them.
Step2: Open the app you just installed and log into it with your Facebook login details.
Step 3: Tap on the Facebook Story with the picture or video you want to download.
When it opens, tap on the Download icon at the bottom-left of the screen.
That is all.
Tip: if you are the type that is overly concerned about your privacy. Then after you have downloaded all the pictures and videos from the Facebook story you want, log out of the app.
Now login to your Facebook with the real Facebook mobile app, or you can use your phone default web browser to open the official website of Facebook and change your password.
