Valheim may be in early access. Still, it’s already become one of the best survival games on the PC. Tasked with defeating the forsaken beast of legend by Odin himself, Valheim in a Viking survival simulator that takes no prisoners. You and up to nine other players must build shelter, tame wild animals, and even learn to farm if you plan on surviving the cruel Norse-inspired landscape.
There’s lots of content in Valheim in its current state, but the developers have already laid a content road map for Valheim’s updates. Here’s what we know so far.
Valheim roadmap: Hearth and Home

The first update coming to Valheim is titled Hearth and Home and will be focused on base building and food preparation. In an interview with PC Gamer, Henrik Törnqvist, co-founder of Iron Gate Studios, said, “It will probably be pretty focused on the food preparation aspect of the game with more recipes and stuff like that,” he continued. “But there are also new additional building pieces.”
Valheim roadmap: Cult of the Wolf

There’s not much known about this update. Still, in that same aforementioned interview, Törnqvist commented that Cult of the Wolf “will be an update that focuses on exploration and combat with hopefully some new fun and different encounters for the players.” Wolves only appear in the Mountain biome, so it’ll probably expand that region in some way.
Valheim roadmap: Ships and the Sea

The Ships and the Sea update will focus on ship customization and promises to expand the Ocean biome. Can we expect new monsters and improved fishing? Only time will tell.
Valheim roadmap: Mistlands

The Mistlands update will flesh out the Mistlands biome. As of right now, the Mistlands biome is accessible, but there’s really nothing to do there. Törnqvist promises “new enemies, new items, a new boss, new resources. Törnqvist went on to confirm that each new biome will contain its own new boss as well as many new, lesser bosses as well. That means we’re looking at nine bosses once the game’s nine biomes are fully fleshed out.
More journey to come very soon
That’s all we know about the four upcoming updates coming to Valheim. There are currently no dates set for any of these updates. The team at Iron Gate Studios is hard at work fixing the current bugs and issues plaguing the game at the moment before turning their attention to the new content. In just one short month, Valheim has sold over 3 million copies on Steam and continues to grow in popularity. We’ll be sure to update you as we learn more.

RIP Anthem: Incredible potential that was never reached
BioWare has announced that Anthem Next, an overhaul that would have revamped many of Anthem’s core gameplay systems, has been cancelled and that Anthem is effectively being left in the dust. Here’s why I’m sad to see Anthem fade away.
