The Dell XPS 13 is one of the best laptops around, but even so, it has a small display. In a home or office situation, you can easily turn it into a desktop PC with an external monitor, giving you more space to work or play. Luckily, there are some excellent choices out there to make your XPS 13 even better.

This stunning-looking LG 27-inch 4K display has near-perfect sRGB color reproduction, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a 5ms response time, so everything looks nice and crispy. The XPS 13 can hook up using simply a USB-C cable and has some nifty built-in features that include LG’s Screen Split and game modes.

Dell’s stunning 27-inch monitor has an almost completely bezel-free design and a 27-inch display. It has inputs for HDMI and DisplayPort, an IPS panel with excellent color reproduction, a VESA mount, and a resolution of 2560×1440, so everything you do will look nice and sharp.

The AOC 24B2XH offers 1080p resolution, a 24-inch panel, and IPS display technology. Throw in multiple inputs, a solid price, and the fact it has almost no bezels, and you have quite the PC monitor. Despite its low cost, it also has a premium style about it, and though you will need an adapter or dedicated cable to use it with the XPS 13, it’s hard to ignore the quality at such a low price.

This 34-inch ultrawide monitor gives you acres of display real estate to get your work done and benefits from a Full HD resolution all the way across. It has a bunch of connectivity options, including HDMI and DisplayPort, and it even supports HDR10 and a 99% sRGB color gamut, which is fantastic to see on an affordable ultrawide monitor such as this.

Another monitor that hooks up over USB-C, this 32-inch goliath features a 4K panel with HDR support. Not only that, but it supports a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, along with low blue light and anti-flicker modes, as well as boasting powerful sound from its built-in speakers. The additional e-paper mode designed for reading protects your eyes by turning your monitor into a giant e-reader.

An extra screen at home is excellent, but an extra screen you can take with your laptop on the road is even better. This is a 15.6-inch USB-C portable monitor with a Full HD resolution IPS display that comes with an included case that can also double up as a stand. It’s got a 60hz refresh rate and also has a pen included that can act as a stand when you don’t have the case on. There’s also a version with a built-in battery if your budget allows.

No bad choices

With a great laptop, you should get a great monitor, and with options like the LG 27UD88 and Dell U2719D on the table, you’ll have a stellar desktop PC experience from your laptop.

It’s also worth recognizing what the ASUS ZenScreen Go can add to your laptop experience. Having extra screen space when you’re at home or in the office is one thing, but with this slim, light, exceptionally well made portable monitor, you can have a similar experience on the go.

Don’t forget your cables

The XPS 13 doesn’t have any regular HDMI or DisplayPort outputs. Instead, it relies on USB-C and Thunderbolt 3. So you’ll need the right sort of cable to hook up the laptop to any of these external displays.

With no HDMI on the XPS 13, you’re instead left relying on the Thunderbolt 3 port, and this cable will make the magic happen.
