Fix the Steam Not Loading Problem Easily post thumbnail

Steam is a community of game lovers and developers. Steam allows you to play and stream your gameplay with friends while chatting with them. No wonder it is loved by millions of gamers around the world.

Nevertheless, while Steam is a beloved gaming platform, there is one glitch that users mostly come across when using Steam. That is, Steam Store is not loading (error code 130). Below are the easy ways to fix this problem.

Fix 1: Clearing Steam Cache

Cache in Steam is there to make your experience in using the platform exciting by improving its speed. However, these cache sometimes are the culprit for your Steam store not loading error. So many users have been able to fix the error by clearing it. Here are the caches you will need to clear, the Steam HTML cache and the Steam downloaded cache.

Clearing Steam HTML Cache

Open the File Explorer app from the Windows App lists or Taskbar. You can also use the Windows + E buttons in your keyboard to open the File + e keyboard shortcut to launch Windows 10 File Explorer
Once you have, click on the View tab and check the Hidden items box in the Show/hide section.

In the location bar of the File Explorer, copy and paste this folder path into it and hit the Enter button. C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache

open steam html cache folder from file explorer

Note: if you have customized your Windows 10 computer username, then the 2nd user in the path above should be the customize username. For example, if my Windows 10 computer username is Ezefidelity, then the path will be C:\Users\Ezefidelity\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache
To easily know your username, hit the Windows + L keys in your keyboard. The name you see in the sign in screen is your username.

Now, once you are in the HTML Cache folder, select all the items there and delete them.

Clearing Steam Download Cache

Open the Run app from the Windows app list or Search. Alternatively, you can use the Windows + R keys in your keyboard.

Now open Steam again and sign in to confirm that it is working and the Steam in not loading error is gone. If not, continue with the next step.

Fix 2: Update your Steam

Many app developers have a funny way of telling their users that it is time for them to update their app. The Steam in not loading error might just be an indicator that you need to update Steam. To update Steam and fix the Steam store not loading error, do the following:

Make sure that Steam is not running in the background.
To ensure this. Right-click on Windows Taskbar and click on the Task Manager option to open it. Alternatively, you can use the Ctrl + Shift + Esc buttons on your keyboard.

Locate Steam Client BootStrapper (32bit) from the list of apps, select it and click on the End task button.

Now, open either the Run app or the File Explorer.
Copy and paste C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam into the one you open and hit the Enter button on your keyboard.

When the Steam folder opens, delete all folders and files except the steamapps, user data, and Skins folders. Also, do not delete the Steam.exe, and SSFN files.

Note: the ssfn files in your own might be one or more than two.

Once done, open the Steam app again, and the new update will start downloading.
This should certainly fix the Steam store is not loading error.

Fix 4: Use a VPN

This may seem to be an easier option, but I placed it 3rd because I do not encourage the use of VPN when you are on your home network, except of course when it becomes necessary. Why VPN?

Have you ever noticed that sometimes websites such as Google and other websites which you suppose to have free access to will require that you solve a captcha before they allow you to use their service?

If yes, that is because your ISP is dynamically assigning IPs to you and the one they recently assign to you have been flagged as spam. Such problem with IP can also cause Steam not to load. So, using a VPN will fix the Steam is not loading error you are experiencing.

Fix 5: Run Steam in Big Picture Mode

Open the Steam app.

Right-click on the Steam icon or tab that is on your taskbar and click on the Big Picture option.

Many users have reported that it fixes the Steam is not loading error they were experiencing.

Fix 6: Turn of Compatibilities

Steam does not need any special compatibility configurations to work properly on your Windows 10 computer. So, turning off these compatibility settings which is on by default might just do the trick. To turn them off, do the following:

Now, open either the Run app or the File Explorer.
Copy and paste C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam into the one you open and hit the Enter button on your keyboard.

open steam folder with windows 10 run app

Locate the Steam.exe file, right-click on it and select Properties.

If after going through all these 6 fixes and you still are able to solve the Steam is not loading problem, then you need to upgrade your Windows 10 version.
Just kidding. Notify me via comments and I will see what I can do. But first, try all the fix above and after each fix you try, check to see that the Steam store not loading has been resolved before you move to the next one.

But seriously, have you tried the latest version of Windows 10? If not, download it now, you might fall in love with it.
