Apex Legends, like every other great PC games crashes. The most popular error that causes the Apex Legends game to crash is the 0x887a0006 Dxgi error.

If you or your friend is experiencing this error while you are playing or about to logon and play the Apex Legends game, I feel your pain and frustration. This is why I am outlining the easiest but yet the most effective ways to fix this 0x887a0006 Dxgi error.

So, let’s get started.

Fix 1: Update your Computer’s Graphic Card Driver.

As you may have already noticed from the error message you received. The 0x887a0006 Dxgi error is a Design-time error, and simply updating the driver PC’s GPU driver will do the trick.

When it comes to updating your computer’s graphic card driver, GeForce Experience or Driver Easy are a great 3rd-party software to use.

Fix 2: Grant Apex Legends Administrative Privilege.

Sometimes, Apex Legends needs Administrator’s permission in order for it to run smoothly. So, after updating your PC’s GPU driver, and the 0x887a0006 Dxgi error still persist, then you should consider granting Apex Legends Administrative privileges to your computer.

You can accomplish this by doing the following:

  1. Locate the Apex Legends game icon from the list of apps in your Windows Start Menu.
    When you do, Left-click on it, Hover your mouse on the More option, then click on Open file location.

  2. When the Apex Legends game folder opens, locate the Origins.exe file. Right-click on it, and click on the Properties option is the Right-click menu.
  3. In the Properties windows that will appear, click or switch to the Compatibility tab.
    Then in the Settings section Check the Run this program as an administrator box.

  4. Finally, click the Apply then the OK button to save this change, and exit the Properties Window.

Fix 3: Replace Missing or Corrupted Apex Legends files.

Most times, games files can go missing or get corrupted. This does not necessarily mean your PC have been infected with a virus. No, things like these happens even without a valid reason.

So, verifying that none of the game file is missing or has gotten corrupted will do you more good than harm.
Follow the guide below for further instructions on how to verify Apex Legends game files if you downloaded it from the Origin Client.

  • Open the Origin client, sign in to your account, and click on the Game option from the Navigation bar.
  • From Game section, click on My Game Library, then click on the Apex Legends game thumbnail to select it.
  • Now, click the Settings icon and select Repair Game.
  • Once you do, the Origin Client will begin to verify Apex Legends game files on your computer.
    Once the verification process is complete, it will automatically repair any missing or corrupted files it finds.

Fix 4: Update Windows Registry Graphic Card Delay Restart.

By default, Windows operating system is set to restart your graphic card after 60 seconds if for any reason, it fails. For most games, such as Apex Legends, 60 seconds is too long a time for it to wait before it reestablish connection to your Graphic Card.

So, with this fix option, we aim at changing the default wait time from 60 seconds to about 8 seconds.
Here is how to do it.

  1. Type in Notepad into the Windows Search bar at the Taskbar. And click on the Notepad App option.
  2. Copy and paste the code below into it.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers] "TdrDelay"=hex(b):08,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
  3. Save it as tdrDelay.reg.
    You can save it with any name you want. Just make sure you use .reg as it file extension.
  4. Now, close the Notepad program.
    Navigate to the location you save it to, and Double-click on it.
  5. When asked if you want to allow this app to make changes to your device, click Yes to confirm and then click OK.
  6. Finally, launch the Apex Legends game again to see whether the 0x887a0006 Dxgi error have been fixed.

Fix 5: Update your PC Windows (OS)

If you are an Avid PC gamer, then it should no longer be a news to you that having an out-of-date operating system (Windows) can cause many issues, including the 0x887a0006 Dxgi error you are experiencing with your Apex Legends game.

So, if your Windows operating system is not up-to-date, and you have done all of the fix instructions above, then you should seriously consider updating your operating system.

  1. Type in Check for updates into the Windows Search bar at the Taskbar. And click on the Check for updates System settings option.

  2. Wait patiently for the system to check for any update to your Windows operating system.
  3. After the check, if the updater finds any updates, click on the Download and Install button.
  4. Once it is through, restart your PC so that the installed update will take effect.

Fix 6: Undo Recent Windows OS Updates

On the other hand, if you start experiencing the 0x887a0006 Dxgi error with your Apex Legends game after you updated your Windows operating system (OS), Then uninstalling the recently installed updates will fix the issue.
