Fix: Samsung Galaxy S21 Unable to Activate Wi-Fi Calling – Technipages

Wi-Fi Calling is a very handy feature that allows Samsung Galaxy S21 users to make and receive calls over a wireless connection when their network signal isn’t working properly. For example, if you live on the side of a mountain where there’s absolutely no cell service, Wi-Fi Calling can save the say.

Unfortunately, many users complained they’re unable to activate Wi-Fi Calling on their Samsung Galaxy S21 devices. Let’s explore what might be causing this issue and how you can fix it.

How to Fix Wi-Fi Calling Not Working on Samsung Galaxy S21

Check if the Feature Is Available

It is worth mentioning right from the beginning that Wi-Fi Calling may not be available on all networks. Your device may sport the feature but if your network provider does not support it, you won’t be able to activate it. Contact your network provider for more information.

Additionally, your phone needs a strong network connection for this feature to work properly. If your Wi-Fi connection is unstable and you’re experiencing bandwidth issues, Wi-Fi Calling will only work intermittently.

Use a New SIM and Enable Default Apps

A number of users managed to solve this issue by getting a new SIM. If you’re using your SIM from your old phone, have it replaced and check the results.

Additionally, make sure to restart your phone, clear the cache and enable HD Voice and Video Calling in your terminal’s settings. By the way, try to enable all the default apps your carrier installed on your phone and check if this helps. Maybe this workaround does the trick for you.

Get the VoWiFi App

vowifi app android

Open the Google Play Store and search for the VoWiFi app. It’s developed by Cast4TV.

  1. Install the app, launch it and follow on-screen instructions.
  2. Then turn on Wi-Fi Calling from the VoWiFi app.
  3. Next, enable Wi-Fi Calling on your Samsung Galaxy S21 phone.
  4. Enter the emergency location info and check if you can use Wi-Fi Calling.

When you’re done, you can delete the app. But if the problem returns, you can reinstall the VoWiFi app. Check what works for you.

Other users went straight to the search bar, typed wifi, and VoWiFi quickly popped on the screen. They enabled Wi-Fi Calling and that fixed the problem. Maybe the app is already installed on your device.

Verizon Created a Master Ticket for the Issue

The huge number of complaints about the same problem pushed Verizon to create a master ticket for this problem. In case you decide to contact Verizon Support, the master ticket number is 150171-021921.

There appear to be several Samsung phones that are having this issue. not just the s21. I have seen it with the s20 and the A71. There is a master ticket created for the issue. hopefully, they will resolve it soon.

Most likely, other carriers are actively investigating the problem as well. Hopefully, they’ll be able to deploy a permanent fix in the near future.

Conclusion

Many Samsung phone models, including the Galaxy S21, are plagued by Wi-Fi Calling issues. The feature is not available or fails to work properly. The good news is that many users managed to work their way around the problem by installing the VoWiFi app. Did this method work for you as well? Let us know in the comments below.
