Fix: 1Password Not Syncing Across Devices – Technipages

Cross-platform password syncing is essential in today’s world where everybody’s got at least two devices. Syncing your passwords across all your devices helps you save precious time by accessing your data everywhere you need it.

That’s why you should pick a password manager that supports cross-platform password syncing. 1Password is one such example. And there’s no limit to the number of devices you can use it on. Unfortunately, the program may sometimes fail to sync your passwords across your devices. Let’s see how you can fix the problem.

How to Fix 1Password Not Syncing Across Devices

Quick Fixes

  • Make sure to download the 1Password extension or app on all your devices.
  • Ensure you’re logged in to the same 1Password account on all your devices. Then log out of your 1Password account and log back in to establish a new connection to 1Password’s servers.
  • Disconnect your devices from the Internet. Restart them and check if the password manager can sync your passwords now.
  • Install the latest system updates on all your devices.
  • Check if there’s a newer 1Password app version available and install it on all your devices.

1Password Not Syncing with iCloud

If this problem only affects iCloud, check your current settings and ensure 1Password is set up to sync with iCloud.

  1. Launch 1Password.
  2. Then go to Preferences and select the Sync icon.
  3. Select your Primary vault, go to Sync vault with and select iCloud.1password Sync vault with icloud
  4. Hit the Start Syncing button.

Additionally, on your Mac, go to System Preferences, and select iCloud. If you use an iOS device, launch the Settings app and tap iCloud. Then, make sure iCloud Drive is enabled and 1Password can access iCloud. On Mac, select iCloud Drive Options, and if you’re on iOS, select Apps Using iCloud.

If the issue persists, try resetting iCloud data in 1Password. For detailed instructions on the steps to follow, visit 1Password’s support page and scroll down to the list’s last option.

1Password Not Syncing with Dropbox

If the sync problem affects Dropbox, the first thing you need to check is your device limit. If you use the Basic plan, you can sign into up to three devices at a time. Make sure you have enough free space in your Dropbox account.

If you’re a business user, your admin can limit the number of devices you can simultaneously connect. Contact your admin for more information about the current settings.

Then, make sure Dropbox is visible in the taskbar (Windows 10) or the menu bar (Mac). Ensure the service isn’t paused. On your Mac, right-click on your Dropbox icon, select Preferences, and set Selective sync to sync with your 1Password vault.

Again, if you’re on Mac, navigate to the Applications folder, select old 1Password copies and drag them to the Trash bin. Empty the Trash and restart your computer.

And if this stubborn issue refuses to go away, try resetting 1Password data. Go to 1Password’s Dropbox troubleshooting page for further instructions.

To sum up, 1Password sync issues are usually triggered by incorrect app settings. Make sure your Primary Vault is allowed to sync with your apps and cloud storage services. Last but not least, update 1Password and install the latest OS updates across all your devices. Troubleshooting 1Password sync problems is not easy.
