For many years, Facebook has shown their commitment to ensuring that people stay connected to the ones and things they love.

Starting today the 1st of August, 2020, Facebook added a new way for their users to stay connected to a thing they love, Music Videos.

Official Music Videos now on Facebook

In the past year, Facebook introduced a new feature known as Facebook Watch. This new feature is intended to curate videos from not just your friends and public figures you are following, but from anyone in Facebook that uploaded a video that Facebook thinks you will be interested in.

The videos in Facebook Watch ranged from creativity video, to tutorials, to news, and starting today, will include official music videos from brands and top artists.

What this means

This means that, you no longer require to hold two accounts, one for Facebook and the other for the site you stream music videos from, like YouTube Music, or VEVO.

You can both stay connected to your favorite music artist while enjoying all their music videos right from your Facebook account.

Exclusives and Premier

Currently, Facebook has partnered with Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Merlin, BMG, Kobalt and many other recording labels to ensure that, Facebook users are the first to get exclusives from their artists.

As a result, in the coming weeks, Facebook users will be able to get access to exclusive music video contents from J. Balvin, Karol G, Sebastian Yatra, Alejandro Fernandez, and Calibre 50.

Also, the new music video from Lele Pons is going to premiere first in Facebook.

Discovery Music Videos on Facebook

As I said earlier, Facebook is adding a new tab to the Facebook Watch section. This new tab will be called Music. Also, Facebook will be prioritizing music videos shared by your friends in your News Feeds.

This means that, when a friend of yours shares a music video, you get to see the music video first in your Facebook News Feed before any other contents (contents like, photos, posts, links and others) from the friend.

From Music tab in Facebook Watch, you will be able to discover new artists and music videos. Music video there will be arranged by genre, artist or moods, and as themed playlists like “Hip Hop MVPs,” “Trailblazers of Pop” and “Epic Dance Videos.” You’ll also find timely playlists like “Popular This Week” and “New This Week.”

Not Available to all

As the Music Video section gets added to Facebook Watch today, Facebook says that this new addition will be available to only Facebook U.S. users first. Then, sometime in the feature, it will be made available to the global Facebook users.

Connecting to non-US Facebook Users

As of now when the Facebook Music Video feature is only available to U.S. users, artists can still connect to none-U.S. Facebook users through Stories, AR effects and Music Stickers that are already part of the Facebook mobile (app) features.

Artists can also host Facebook Live video will all their fans regardless of their location. And if a fan of them decide to share the artists Facebook Live video, then the friends of the fan can join the artists live video without them having to first like the Facebook page or profile of the artists.
