Destiny 2 developer Bungie has announced in a new blog post that the game’s next expansion, The Witch Queen, has been delayed to early 2022. It was originally going to launch in 2021, but Bungie stated that the impact of COVID-19, a desire to more thoroughly flesh out Destiny 2’s core systems, and a need for more development time pushed the studio to move the release date back.
“Making this choice is not one we took lightly. Believe me, as someone close to The Witch Queen’s progress, there’s no one more than us that wants to get it out as soon as it’s ready,” said Assistant Game Director Joe Blackburn. “But at the end of the day, we know we’re making this call for The Witch Queen and future chapters in Destiny 2 for all the right reasons, ones that puts our team first and our game at the quality bar we strive for ourselves.”
At the end of the blog post, early concepts for armor sets that players will be able to earn in The Witch Queen were shown off. You can view them at the top of this article; personally, I love all three of them, and I can’t wait to see how Bungie evolves and tweaks the look of the armor over time.
The latest Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light, is available now for $40 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
