On the 9th day of the month of January, 2020, Google announces the second wave of Google Play Indie Game Festival. This Game festival is aimed at showcasing the technical skill and innovative design of games from small and medium size game developers, which made them essential part of the gaming landscape.
The Google Indie Game Festival event was initially scheduled to hold in Warsaw, Tokyo and Seoul, with fellow game developers, industry experts and Google itself in attendance. Hence, this was a really good opportunity for small game developers in the region where the festival will be held to gain good and valuable exposure.
However, with the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the festival was hosted online. From the hundreds of developers that submitted their games, here are the 9 winners.
Google Indie Game Festival 2020 Winners (Europe)
Cookies Must Die
This game by Rebel Twins from Poland, is an action game that showcases Jack, an enhanced secret agent, with special powers, whose goal is to stop a group of evil, mutant cookies and their powerful bosses before they reduce the city to rubble.
Jack enemies includes not just angry cookies, but deadly jellies, threatening chocolates and many more sweet but dangerous characters.
With less than a year and six months of Cookies Must Die being in the Google Play Store, it has attracted over a million downloads and an average of 4.3 star rating.
The 2nd winner of the Indie Game Festival 2020 (Europe edition) is the Inbento game, which is developed by Afterburn from Poland. On like Cookies Must Die, Inbento is a Brain Game designed to be suitable for everyone in the Family.
It showcased a cat trying to prepare launch and arrange them in bento boxes. Your goal as the player, is to help her solve the hand-crafted recipes while enjoying the storyline.
There are over 120 puzzles to be solved, and the game is available in 17 different languages.
The White Door
This game by Rusty Lake from Netherland is inspired by a real-life story. It is a story about Robert Hill who wakes up one day only to discover that he is in a Mental Health Facility and has suffer from severe memory loss. Your goal, is to help him recall his memories while exploring his dreams.
The memories recollection process is designed to be playful and filled with brain teasers and riddles. Each day in the mental facility also has its own atmosphere. Meaning it is packed full of suspense, and a variety of unexpected and surrealistic events to keep you engaged.

Google Indie Game Festival 2020 Winner (Japan)
This game by Shiki Game Studio is all about you, protecting the earth from being destroyed by meteorite attack.
You are given a weaponized satellite flagship, and are meant to destroy any and all meteorites before they reach the earth.
To make your mission fun, you are given high reward when you drop two or more meteorites at the same time, and if you are able to drop a meteorite in a specific order, you gain even higher rewards.
Developed by REBUILD GAMES, this action game has a retro style with a catchy soundtrack for those who miss old game consoles.
Wasurenaide, otana ni natte mo
This Minecraft style game is about a boy who is looking for his father and discover a mysterious clue known as the Seven Wonder Notes.
Will you be able to use these notes to guide Minato to his father? Explore your options in this cinematic adventure game.

Heroes Restaurant (Bistro Heroes)
With over half a million download in the Play store already, this Role Play game by Team Tapas has already made it to the Editor Choice games of Google Play.
The story is about running a restaurant while creating a squad of heroes you will fight along with, to save your town.
So, apart from gathering various ingredients needed to prepare meals for your restaurant customers, you also have to create styles for the clothes of your hero. You also got to develop your town with numerous buildings and furniture.
This is more or less a shooting game where what you are shooting at are spirits in form of virus chasing you about trying to corrupt you.
Your aim is to use your magic to destroy as many as you can in order to survive.
This game already has over 100,000 installs, and is loved by its players who gave it a 4.2 star average rating. And not forgetting the fact that it is also among the games in the Editorial Choice games of Google Play.
This game by Moontm is an unusual game for those who aspire to colonize Mars. It players become a part of the space expedition that help to make the red planet a place where people can live.

So, you might wonder, what did Google offer these 9 game developers for winning the festival, is it just recognitions? Of course NOT.
The developers that won received prize packages that is designed to help them grow their business on Android and on Google Play. These prizes include promotions on Google Play Store, Consultations with members of the Google Play team, Google Hardware, and undisclosed extra promotion campaigns.
Regardless of what those undisclosed promotion campaigns include, we are sure it will be worth their effort.
