- 300ppi glare-free display
- Waterproof
- 8GB storage
- Short battery life even on moderate use
The awesome Amazon’s 6” Paperwhite optimized display technology and the built-in light grabs the headlines here.
It can display at 300ppi and using sleek fonts thanks to the maximized font technology and grayscale.
The new model is now waterproof to allow keen readers to take their Kindle outdoors in any weather condition.
To make things livelier, you can now choose between several colors, including Plum, Sage or Twilight Blue.
The new Paperwhite also adds audio function, so that you can pair Bluetooth headphones or speakers and listen to your favorite audiobooks.
In terms of formats, it supports Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PMP through conversion; Audible audio format (AAX).
- Wi-Fi + 3G
- VoiceView Screen Reader (intelligent language text-to-speech voice conversion)
- Long battery life
- Doesn’t make much of a difference compared to older models
This is the 7th generation of Amazon’s Paperwhite Kindle, the predecessor of our first pick. It is still the most popular model, so if you don’t want to pay some extra bucks for a few new features in your e-reader, this one would do.
Battery life might last longer at this model, though, since with every new Kindle, this is the trend – to add more features, make the device more compact, but compromise on days of use without charging.
